Membership categories

The Omega-3 Centre members fall into four categories, depending on each member’s activity and level of interest in long chain Omega-3s.

Full Members

Large health or nutrition-related organisations, research or educational organisations, processors, refiners, manufacturers, and marketers of long chain Omega-3-containing foods (including seafoods and enriched foods), ingredients and supplementary medicines that have a direct interest in promoting the optimum consumption of Omega-3s may become Full Members. Members should be interested in the ethical growth, development and sustainability of long chain Omega-3 DHA and EPA as vitally important nutrients in maintaining good health of humans and animals. Full Members are eligible for full voting membership in The Omega-3 Centre and Full Members will comprise the association’s Management Committee. Membership may be held by any legal entity, including individuals, corporations, and partnerships.

Associate Members

Organisations and individuals who want to contribute to the objects of the Centre but do not wish to be actively involved in the management of the Centre and do not require the full benefits. Associate Members are eligible for most membership benefits and can serve on all committees other than the Management Committee but hold a non-voting membership in The Omega-3 Centre. Membership may be held by any legal entity, including individuals, corporations, and partnerships.

Association Members

Industry, health and nutrition associations, academic institutions and other legal business organisations not directly engaged in the value chain but “serving” the Omega-3 sector may hold a non-voting membership in The Omega-3 Centre. Association Members may not participate in committees except by specific invitation.

Individual Members

Individuals not directly associated with organisations described under Full, Associate or Association members but with a professional or other interest in long chain Omega-3s may hold a non-voting membership. Individual Members may not participate in committees except by specific invitation. The Individual Member category includes but is not limited to researchers, educators, consultants, attorneys, the media, medical professionals (dietitians, nutritionists, doctors, specialists, naturopaths, pharmacists, acupuncturists, etc)
